At this point, I assume I will mine them all.
Each of the pieces of Writer's Blocktoberfest Flash Fiction will be labeled WBFF followed by a dash and the story title.
We start tomorrow people. This is not a drill.
As promised, I am stupidly writing 31 stories of 100 words for the month of October. Feel free to leave a story title here or here.

Some new comments have shown up on the Flash fiction thread, despite Flash Fiction Week being over. . .
So I guess we are going to have to do a sequel. How about a new 100 word story EVERY DAY IN OCTOBER! Leave a comment here or in the old thread and I'll write a story with that as the title. The silence felt interminable to John, so he turned to Alice and asked, “Who was your first crush?”
“Like, person I met or like a TV crush?” “Oh, I didn’t think about that. TV crush would definitely be 60s Batgirl for me.” “How old are you?” “I didn’t understand the concept of reruns as a kid. I thought the Brady Bunch was a new show when I was watching it.” “My mom told me that when I was like four that I had a crush on Etan Patz. But maybe, maybe, I just really liked milk.” The silence grew stronger. The creatures resembled walking tomatoes. They were roughly tomato sized and had smooth, somewhat delicate skin that could be pierced with a thumb nail.
They weren’t tomatoes, of course. Their skin was purplish black and covered with fine hairs. In lieu of a stem, each had a shimmering beak like a hypodermic needle. The first one stuck its beak into Snickers the cat. Snickers’ eyes turned black and her body fell to the floor as though all her bones had melted. Something dark oozed through the skin of the dead cat and I felt a tickle between my shoulder blades. “Why don’t people like it when Superman smokes weed?” |
