“It’s going to make your life so much easier,” Laura told Stan. “Just say the name and ask her to play any song you can want.”
Stan thought for a moment before saying, “Nexus, play Queen Jane Approximately by Bob Dylan.”
“I don’t know the song Jane Approximately by Queen,” the cylinder replied.
“Try again,” Laura advised.
“Nexus, play the song by Bob Dylan called Queen Jane Approximately.”
“I don’t know the song Bye Bye Dylan,” Nexus stated matter-of-factly.
“Maybe try a different song,” Laura suggested.
“Fine,” Stan conceded. “Play Love is Greater Than A Building on Fire.”
Silence.
“You didn’t say Nexus,” Laura explained.
“Yes?” Nexus replied.
“Oh, nothing. Thank you,” Laura said to the cylinder.
“I’m happy to help,” Nexus proclaimed.
Stan took a breath. “Nexus, play Love is Greater-”
“And it’s an arrow not a greater than.”
“Now playing Your Love is Greater Live Version by Christ-capade.”
Laura commanded, “Nexus, stop,” and the machine did.
“So, Love Arrow A Building on Fire?” Stan asked Laura.
“I believe you say it Love Goes to a Building on Fire,” she answered. “But she doesn’t care if you say Talking heads or the improper version: The Talking Heads.”
“Okay, I’m going to do this. Nexus, play by Love Goes to a Building on Fire Talking Heads.”
Anticipation filled the room.
Nexus sprang to life. “Love Building on Fire 2004 remaster by Talking Heads now playing.”
Deep inside the cylinder one pixie said to another, “I’m glad she stalled him long enough for me to find that CD.”
